ACCOUNTING FOR DECISION MAKING

Accounting is the language of the business. Understanding of accounting is necessary to understand the business. Accounting for decision making (ADM) is an introductory course in accounting. The course is divided into two parts a) Financial Accounting and b) Management Accounting. The financial accounting part of the course attempts to familiarize the students to basic accounting and financial statements. It also trains the students on the analysis of accounting data and techniques of detecting earnings management. Management accounting part of the course equips the students on various techniques of cost allocation, control and performance evaluation for the purpose of decision making.

Prof. Suhas M Avabruth holds a Fellow Program in Management (FPM) degree from IIM Shillong in accounting and finance. He has over a decade of teaching, research, and industry experience. Prior to joining XIMB, he has also taught at TAPMI, Manipal. His research interest lies in corporate governance, family business, earning management and tax research. He has published his research in various reputed international journals.
